Cat Nap

Everybody Is Sleeping

Everybody is sleeping at my house,
the cat "Kahlua" and my wife...

The homebody feline consumed her food,
now in the spare room upon the guest bed...

Not writing poetry, just moseying around,
limp and content, not struggling to be read...

Content relaxing in unknown silence,
is she dreaming or satisfied, thoughts unsaid?

My wife escaping pending reality, curled up,
wakes later than I, clings to sleep instead...

I face the rising sun, forecast rain, seemingly wrong,
thoughts passing determination life's not fled...
