 Looking Out For Santa Avalo - 2nd January 2009 Avalo 'went to sleep' Friday, the 2nd of January, 2009. His kidney failure deteriorated to such an extent that it was necessary to make the difficult decision. For such a distressing event, it was conducted quite beautifully, at home, in my arms - with two of my (and Avalo's) friends and I chanting some Buddhist mantras. He went very peacefully and quickly - a sure sign, apparently, that he was ready to go. I miss him quite dreadfully - he was a real blessing to me and I am very grateful to have had the chance to share even a short part of his journey.
