Melissa Smith, is a BA (Hons) Printed Textiles Design graduate who is also a cat lover. Cats have frequently appeared in her artwork and designs over several years. The cats are normally depicted with flowers and/or birds and all echo the same stylised quality. More of Melissa's cat paintings can be seen at her website.

Cats and Flowers. This is a detail of a large digitally printed fabric in repeat structure. The original fabric displays four different cats meandering around flowers in the garden.		Honey and birds: This is a painting in inks displaying Honey the cat, two birds and flowers.
