|Preparing For The Birth|
Pregnancy - Preparation:
Three or four weeks before the birth is also the time to get the pregnant queen used to the bed where (you hope!) she will give birth. There is no guarantee that she will choose this bed (cats can be fairly headstrong at the best of times!), but the earlier you introduce it to her, the greater the chance of success. Pick the best location - a quiet, warm and dark place where she will be undisturbed. Make sure food, water and a litter tray are nearby; she needs to feel completely comfortable and at home, with everything to hand.
The bed itself can be a simple three sided box - an ordinary box with a panel cut out at the front for easy access. Line the box with plenty of newspaper, and perhaps a favourite soft blanket in the days leading up to the birth itself.
