The 17-year-old black cat was savaged by a dog outside his home in The Greenway, Cippenham, on Monday last week as two teenagers allegedly looked on, as reported on the front page of the Observer last week. At around 4.45pm, a witness saw the teenagers letting their dog, possibly an American Pit Bull Terrier, off the lead before watching it attack and kill the cat. The cat's owner and mother-of-two, Sharon Ballantyne, said: "I am absolutely delighted that people have come forward." "It is largely down to the article in the Observer and I'd like to thank everyone who helped the police with their enquiries." "The local community have been great and I would like to thank them for their kindness as well." Police are following up enquiries and no arrests had been made as the Observer went to press. Investigating officer PC Matt Kille said: "We've had a massive response to the article but are still looking for witnesses. This is an appalling crime and anyone with information should come forward." Witnesses can call PC Kille on 08458-505505. Moggies comment: No arrest yet? I find that strange as the culprits have come forward. What are the police doing? |
