Sad Tale Of Two Rescued Kittens

Source: TCPalm, FL

The public needs to know of my experience at the Indian River Humane Society late Monday, the 31st of March.

My neighbours moved and left a mother cat and her kittens running loose. I caught two black kittens and had them spayed, given rabies shots and de-wormed. I keep the kittens five weeks to make them friendly, litter trained and adoptable. The black kittens were cute and lovable.

I took the kittens to the Humane Society and they said nothing about not putting the kittens up for adoption. After I had signed a release form of ownership for the kittens, the girl at the desk said the kittens now belonged to the Humane Society.

I asked to leave my kitten food and they said no, that they would feed them Science Diet and that it was good for kittens. After that, I felt that the kittens would be okay, and put up for adoption.

I drove to Humane Society on the 4th of April to try to adopt the kittens back and keep them for myself. They told me that the two kittens were no longer in the system. That indicated that the kittens had been killed in less than two days. On the 4th of April, almost three-quarters of the cat adoption cases were empty.

There were plenty of adoption cases for these kittens.

The Humane Society seems to be killing about 90 percent of dogs and cats that are brought in. The release form the Humane Society has the public sign should list all items that could keep a dog or cat from adoption so the public can make a choice — knowing the truth.

Moggies comment: This is not a Humane Society, it is a Killing Society. Why is this so called Humane Society being allowed to kill innocent animals when they say they rescue them, and then they have the nerve to ask for donations? Authorities need to look into this Society and find out what exactly is going on and why.
