Tabby Tuna Frozen Pops
1 (6-ounce) can water-based tuna.
1 tsp. organic catnip, finely crushed.
Drain liquid from tuna into cup with a spout. Fill each compartment of a plastic ice cube tray halfway with water. Lightly sprinkle catnip into each compartment.
Fill rest of ice cube tray with tuna water. Place tray in freezer and allow cubes to freeze solidly. Serve one of these tuna frozen pops in your cat's bowl.
Makes 14 to 16 servings.
Mmmm Meaty Cookies
1/2 cup wheat germ.
1/2 cup dry milk.
1 tsp. honey.
1 small jar of beef puree baby food.
With wooden spoon, stir together wheat germ, dry milk and honey in small mixing bowl. Add beef puree and stir until thoroughly mixed. Form mixture into small balls.
Place balls on greased cookie sheet and flatten them with a fork. Bake at 350 degrees 8 to 10 minutes.
Cool before serving. Refrigerate in airtight container, carefully labeled. Makes 8 to 10 servings.
Fish Chowder
1/2lb. fish, boned and cut into kitty-bite-size pieces.
1cup creamed corn.
1/4 cup finely chopped potato.
1 garlic clove, minced.
1 tbsp. margarine.
1 cup milk.
1 tbsp. cooked liver. (Chop liver into kitty-bite-size pieces, then boil it about 15 minutes. Be sure to drain it well.)
1/2 tsp. iodized salt.
Shredded cheese, optional.
In medium saucepan, combine fish, corn, potato, garlic, margarine, milk, liver and salt. Cover and simmer 20 minutes. Cool and serve plain or topped with cheese.
Makes 4 to 5 servings.
Chicken & Asparagus Casserole
2/3 cup cooked, boned and chopped chicken.
2/3 cup cooked elbow macaroni (small size).
1 stalk asparagus, finely chopped.
1 tbsp. chopped, cooked liver. (Chop liver into kitty-bite-size pieces, then boil it about 15 minutes. Drain well.)
2 tbsp. milk.
2 tbsp. ricotta or cottage cheese.
1 tsp. corn oil.
1/2 tsp. iodized salt.
2 tbsp. shredded Cheddar or white cheese.
In medium mixing bowl, combine chicken, macaroni, asparagus, liver, milk, ricotta cheese, corn oil and salt and stir to blend. Transfer mixture to small, well-greased casserole or small glass bread pan. Top with cheese.
Bake at 375 degrees 20 minutes. Cool and serve.
Makes 3 to 4 servings.
Note: Most cats enjoy nibbling on cooked asparagus, but it can be stringy, so be sure to peel it and chop it fine to make it easier for your cat to eat.
Kitty Cheeseburger
3 ounces ground beef, broiled.
2 tbsp. chicken broth.
3 tbsp. whole wheat bread crumbs.
1 egg.
1 small carrot, steamed and chopped fine.
1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese.
In medium bowl, mash together beef, broth, bread crumbs, egg and carrot. Form into 2 small burger patties.
Place patties on greased baking sheet and broil until cooked through. Remove burgers from oven and sprinkle cheese on top. Allow cheese to melt and burgers to cool. Serve patties 1 at a time, broken up into kitty-bite-size pieces.
Makes 2 servings.
Kitty Fondue
1 tsp. corn oil.
1 garlic clove, minced.
1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese.
1/2 cup condensed cream of chicken soup.
1/2 tsp. iodized salt.
1/4 cup chicken broth.
2 tbsp. cooked liver. (Chop liver into kitty-bite-size small pieces, then boil it about 15 minutes. Drain well.)
1 cup kitty-bite-size pieces French bread.
Heat oil in saucepan. Add garlic and saute 1 minute. Add cheese, soup and salt and cook, stirring constantly over low heat until cheese melts and mixture is creamy. Remove from heat. Stir in chicken broth and liver.
When mixture has cooled to lukewarm, stir in French bread and serve.
Makes 3 to 4 servings.
